Abstract
The author explains how adult adoption differs from the adoption of minors, tells how different states establish varying requirements, and shows that the protections for adopted minors may not always be available to adopted adults. The reasons for and the ramifications of adult adoption (such as inheritance rights) and the resulting effects on the extended families of both parties are examined in detail.
